I felt bad having 4 tables and only setting up 2, so I cleaned it up and did a thorough inspection and relubrication. Jeez, it took several hours but it's nice for a bit of a pain suspended table. My 1st spin was the Eagles 1st album so I then spun the 2nd which is a Japanese import and WOW. The original Pickering 3000 cart with a Rega 300 arm sounded smackingly good. I had forgotten why I bought/kept this in the first place.
Follow Ups:
I've seen the XA converted to Rega arm, but it's easier to convert the later models that came with Jelco arms.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?

mine was with blank arm board, I don't exactly remember. Anyway I had a spare Rega 300 arm so I used that. It's really not a bad table, I like!
BTW, I never had a rega table, but I know you like it a lot.
But about 20 years ago I bought a Rega clone, a Moth Alamo S. Total POS.

Decades ago I owned a couple of AR-XAs and had good memories of them.
Then a couple of years ago I cleaned up one for friends so they could sell it. Naturally I had to listen a bit and was surprised by how musical and satisfying it was.
Seems like finding one in good working order is still a great way to get into vinyl.

In the first place.... Magazines? Internet Wisdom ? :-)
but only really had room for two. I was looking at it after putting it back in the cave (I had to empty things out totally because of the Ida aftermath) and just wanted to try it again. Finding a buyer and having to pack it to survive shipping was depressing so I set it up again and put my Linear away for now. I had forgotten how nice it sounds.
