I finally signed up. Looking to purchase a specific item that seems to be available from only overseas sellers. Can you guys share experiences with overseas purchases via discogs? Any other tip for a new user will be appreciated as well. Thanks

But the shipping costs can be high.
I took a chance and ordered a copy of the soundtrack to Lina Wertmuller's film Summer Night. Not many choices for this 80s release but had one shipped from Milan. It arrived yesterday. Eyeballing it revealed dust and some marks that really don't match the condition description in the listing. I'll give it a good cleaning this weekend. Shipping from Italy is quite a bit. I am excited to have it, though!
Sad note, I read that Lina Wertmuller passed away this week. She made it to 93.
Overall very good experience both selling and buying on Discogs. Have bought and sold with foreign (non USA) without any issues.
I've purchased several records from overseas sellers on Discogs. I don't make those purchases any differently than domestic purchases. I've never had a problem. My last one was a few weeks ago. I bought this from a seller in the Ukraine. It's in great shape and sounds amazing. I got it in about a week:
I've bought hundreds of LPs through Discogs, many of them from overseas and I've only had 1 bad experience.... so that's pretty good! LPs from overseas usually are here in 3 weeks.
I have used Discogs over the last 7-8 years and must say my experience with European and Japanese sellers has been terrific. Items tend to be as described or at least one category better than what I receive from the typical seller located in the States. Some sellers in the USA have a "flea market mentality", not my experience at all with overseas sellers. With COVID shipping options and time to arrival have changed. Tracking can be wonky at best from various countries. Many now use DHL which overall, while more expensive tends to be more reliable in terms of tracking and keeping the buyer informed. It comes down to seller integrity, basically look at their feedback and go from there. In terms of sourcing from various countries Japan, U.K., Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and Finland have been great. France has been pretty good, and Italy, well I just hold my breath and am happy when it finally shows up. Good luck,, I think overall you will like the experience.
Just curious, but which items do you seek?
At the moment, I have to have the soundtrack to a Lina Wertmuller film from the 80s (Summer Night). A handful of sellers on discogs, mostly in Italy, have the original vinyl released by Cinevox. I've been watching her 70s movies on disc lately which include the trailer for Summer Night. The music used in the trailer caught my attention so I tracked down the soundtrack. I have sooo much Italian film music, every time I think I don't need anymore, I stumble upon more.
Several from the UK, one from Germany and a couple from Japan. Never an issue, although I only bought from established sellers with high feedback scores.
Recently bought an album from a seller in Germany. Came well packaged in perfect shape and in the condition stated.(VG+) As already mentioned, takes a bit longer, but still in a reasonable time frame.
I've ordered many from overseas, German, UK, Netherlands. Ordered a Willie Nile album that was only released on LP in Europe, seller lived in Finland, shipped from Sweden. No issues.
Hell, sometimes the LPs coming from the UK got here faster than LPs coming from Milwaukee.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
It was a reissue of Led Zeppelin II that was had the RL mix on side one. I knew a couple of seconds into Whole Lotta Love it was worth the wait, thankfully.
A very nice vg+ copy of Bob Seger's Beautiful Loser. Less than $20 including shipping. Took forever and a month. Great seller kept in touch throughout. Felt bad that FB window closed before I could leave him some.
Marty Stuart CD shipped from Philadelphia--and I'm in Pittsburgh!
The seller shipped it the same day I bought it, but it sat in a postal facility for well over a month.

Thanks. I have the patience of Job, if I can track it. I've made several eBay purchases from overseas sellers. That's where I looked first, but no luck.
I have purchased lps from Discogs sellers al over Europe. Never a problem. Even during pandemic. Usually 2-3 weeks to arrive.
Thanks. I'm looking for an Italian film soundtrack that was released in the mid 80s. Italian and German sellers on discogs seem to be the only sources so far.
Great...at least you found it
I have dealt with a couple of German sellers.
No problems whatsoever.
