Get a Rega with a Rega cartridge and save yourself the time and stress! No worries about azimuth, VTA, etc. Just my opinion...-

Providing that whoever makes Rega carts makes every one perfectly and there is no misalignment of the stylus.
Can't you can buy any turntable and cartridge you want and not worry about azimuth?
Why do you have to buy a Rega?
I never worry about azimuth.
"Can't you can buy any turntable and cartridge you want and not worry about azimuth?"
This would never presume that the headshell of an integrated turntable would constantly be perfectly parallel to the platter..... I've seen too many such examples that are "off"..... (The arm base or the cartridge would need a "shim" to dial this in, if the azimuth is otherwise "fixed.")
"Why do you have to buy a Rega?"
That's his choice.....
"I never worry about azimuth."
That's a choice too.... I personally think the azimuth being slightly "off" would compromise the presentation. (This is why I've never liked playing LPs that have "dish" warps.)
Okay! This is becoming too much for my old mind to comprehend. ;-)
I own the SME V tonearm. It doesn't have azimuth because its headshell is permanently attached to its tonearm just like a Rega. However, I can alter azimuth slightly because the base can be loosened and tilted just slightly. However, I tilt it so my cartridge is level from its reflection in the vinyl surface and then I tighten it down. My SME V has VTA/SRA adjustments by raising or lowering the base. I set that so my cartridge looks level when viewing it from the side with a flashlight. The lateral alignment is accomplished by sliding the base forward or rearward until the correct null-points are achieved. After all of that, I don't worry about anything, except for possibly dish-warped LPs. I'm sure you're right about dish-warps causing problems. However, I don't have any of those with my SOTA Millennia Vacuum turntable because the vacuum platter flattens out every record I play.
No worries, Mate!
Best regards,
John Elison
Not just talking about azimuth. If use a Rega cartridge, Rega is indisputably the easiest table to set up. Unlike other tables, with adjustments for azimuth, VTA, etc., Rega's three point mounting is almost full proof. Once you adjust the anti skate and tracking force, you're set. It may be easy for you to mount a cartridge but it's something I'd rather forego at this stage of my life.PS- I know you don't listen to vinyl much anymore, anyway! 😊
