Nice LP...
Follow Ups:
I'd been listening to some of John Fogerty's solo works and for a change of pace decided to put on some Blasters. Ended up playing an album of theirs I hadn't listened to in many years: Their 1985 release "Hard Line" with Slash records. What a great album. Well recorded and produced and not a single filler song on the album. The cover photo of the group (missing Gene Taylor) is somewhat bitter sweet in that this was the last album before Dave Alvin left the group and started his own solo career.
So is that was caused the rift between Dave and Phil? We've seen Dave Alvin at least 3 times in the last decade or so. One time it was with Phil - think it was the Rhythm room in Phoenix. Later they were going to play as the Blasters with X (at Crescent Ballroom) but it was cancelled.
Hard Line was an album I discovered in college in the 80s thanks to Audio magazine.

I can imagine it's tough being in a band with a brother. There are many examples of where brothers started out together but parted ways fairly soon.
I have a couple of the brother's solo efforts. Both good albums in their own right:
Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore - "Downey To Lubbock"
Phil Alvin & Sun Ra - "Un Sung Stories"
Here's a live take from Dave & Phil's record Common Ground where they play the music of Big Bill Broonzy. The drummer here is really good - she can be a real monster if the music calls for it.

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of "Common Ground". Will have to get a copy.
Yeah, actually spinning some sides tonight.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Reminds me to pull out and listen to my Neko las. I've also seen her perform live a few times and always id a great performance.
