The lp gear cf3600le a $50 cart made Stereophile recommended components class c. I said WTH why not if I don't like it I'll just use it for a back up. Well I took off my nagaoka mp-110 of my well tempered classic turntable. I put it on set it up out of the box it sounded nice. I read it needs about 12hrs to shine and boy they where right I put it on my Cardas burn in record for 15 hrs. This is a very nice sounding cartridge super quiet detailed very engaging midrange and great bass. How the hell can they make this for $50! Steal of the century. Btw I like it better than my nagaoka and my ortofon 2m blue and my grado red. It just sounds so right!!
Follow Ups:
I'd say that they can do it for $50, because the base audio technica cartridge, it is based on retails for about $25-30....The write up on the LPgear website, admits that it a rebadged Audio Technica
"Codeveloped and designed by Audio-Technica with LP GEAR®"
And even the cart name is very similar to the A-Ts... not saying they're identical, but they are based on an existing base model... so lower development cost...
Have a look on the A-T page on the LPgear site...
Cheers

But the Carbon comes with a conical stylus, though you can purchase the lp gear elliptical stylur and use it on the Carbon.
But yes, a satisfying cartridge on something like the Rega P2.
My friend is using this cart on his rega and he likes it a lot better than the rega carbon
There is discussion of the cartridge at vinyl engine if you're interested.
This $39 cartridge best price is $209
I like it better than my nagaoka my-110 and ortofon 2m blue. It's was a pleasant surprise
Looks like the Audio-Technica AT-VM95C made the list as well. Possibly more amazing is the Goldring E3 is Class B. Three great, reasonably priced options for us frugalphiles.
I've been touting the Goldring E3 for awhile now.
FANTASTIC cartridge, not only for the price!
Could be true, can't say fer shure.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
So what carts would you say it's competitive with?
