After some of the Uber high- priced tables reviewed recently, these prices no longer shock me. The fact that I am unfazed, even blasť that this one comes in at $360,000 says something about the industry, our times and the concept of diminishing returns. No matter how good this table sounds, frankly, the aesthetics are not my cup of tea. I suppose if you like erector sets, this one might be very appealing. Actually Fremer hit the bullseye with his description:
" Looking somewhat like the Guggenheim Museum topped by a heliport and a construction crane."
And, of course, he loves the looks. I hope his wife handles the decorating at home....
There's no virtue in being old,
it just takes a long time
... on various DIY boards, there were several guys building them from wood, etc., and they all raved about their performance. I guess it's going be taken seriously now that OMA is doing it.
...you'll know he's way out there. Some guys just follow their own vision, and design what speaks to them.
but little else.
While I'm not included in that group, I always wonder how many of such high priced components are actually sold?

This does NOT look like a mass-produced item! It is a custom, bespoke product, probably individually assembled by hand. But if he only makes/sells a few a year, he's probably doing OK.
Never heard any OMA product. Love to know if function follows form. Everything they build is so beautiful but I always wonder.
it's got a lot of nifty features and technologies, but that price is a bit nuts. I'm not saying MF isn't spot on, but one is banking a lot of cheese on one guy's opinion.
