In Reply to: RE: Could you possibly mention a couple differences between the 126 and the 125? Thanks. posted by sberger on September 18, 2021 at 14:37:47
but I have never set it up. My Technics SL1700 MKII, my restored Dial 1229 and my AR-XA are currently in operation, and I have been too lazy to set up the 125. Thanks again.
Follow Ups:
Not sure if the arm is already on there why set up would be that complicated. But I'm probably missing something. All 3 of your other tables are great, but to have a 125 just sitting idle seems a shame.
plugged it in. What is on the shelf but not plugged in is a Thorens TD160. The TD160 just needs repair to one of the dust cover pins. Obviously too many turntables, but it will be fun to compare a direct drive, a belt drive, and a idler drive. Unfortunately, I don't have three identical cartridges.
Also a wonderful table. I have a 145 MKII, which is the same more or less without the end of play lift and a different tonearm. I really like it. Not as much as the 126 but I could live with it.
I hear you with the too many tables. I've got 4 in the listening room that I alternate with, plus 2 really nice one's(Elac 50HII and Fairchild 412) sitting idle in a separate room.
a Capehart console with a GE RPJ-052 cartridge(not installed yet), but I don't know when I will ever get around to a rebuild. I am sure most of the resistors and electrolytic caps will need to be replaced, and I do have two new can caps for it. I haven't checked any tubes yet, but I do have a TV-7 D/U tester fortunately. I am 75+ now, and there are so many projects.
The Fairchild 412 is the basic model. 33 1/3 only. But it does that really well, and looks cool also.

Is that Cornet phono amp?-
The table in the background is an updated AR XA, a favorite.
The tube preamp is a Decware CSP, but I no longer have it. For phono pre's, I use a GE MF-1, and Shure M65, both rebuilt by a friend. Love them both.
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't use it very much these days, preferring the two Thorens, a Sony 2251, and the table in the background, an updated AR XA, a favorite. The tube preamp is a Decware CSP, but I no longer have it.
