recording system from the previous 13bit/47.2Hz sampling rate system and stored it on video tape. That supposedly improved the sound, but my record was recorded one year before this change.
Don't know what to say, but my LP sure sounded great. Maybe it was the mellow sound of Telemann's chamber music. ;^)
Was the sound of your '72 issue harsh and brittle with poor tone? I am guessing that your system is way more revealing than mine as well. In Alaska, I only have an AR-XA table with Shure M97xe Jico SAS stylus; a Denon AVR 1010 receiver; an outboard N.E.W. A-20 amp; slightly modified PSB A speakers; and HSU HRSW10 stereo subs.
it was more of a grainy texture that robbed the music of fine detail that somehow emasculated the music.
