Hey, it's a movie.
I believed this scene was based on the old joke of the guy seeing the ad for a Porsche 911 Targa for $100. So he calls, believing it is a typo, to find out the real price. The wife replies that her husband left her for some young thing and now wants her to sell the car, among a few other toys, and forward whatever she gets for it. ;^)

It's empowering to her to get back at her turd of an ex who left her.
I do agree with Amphissa's take on the scene from Diner. I don't think it's aged well. Makes me cringe to see him being such a shit despite the pain he's obviously causing.

I typed my response. I thought I remembered that it was a young teenager walking past the house with that Porsche parked outside. The ex-wife then leans out the window and yells "Hey kid, you like that car.?" Of course the kid says yeah. The wife throws the kid the ex-husband's keys out the window and says "It's yours."I might be mixing two different scenes here.

and she just wants them out of there with no monetary benefit for her her ex.In fact, she wants her ex to suffer mentally, because his priceless collection is being liquidated for a insane low price.
