a direct drive Panasonic SP10, but it resulted on noise coming from the direct drive motor. I only use it now after removing the record from the table and from a vacuum record cleaner. I have never thought of using it just prior to placing the record on the platter, but that may be an excellent idea.
The effect for me only lasts one play, and I suspect taking the record in and out of the sleeve must be the culprit. It doesn't help to be living in a home with forced air heating and no humidifier.
The instructions on the back of the older Zerostats has more information than the new boxes(see pic).

The instructions you posted are far more explanatory than the ones included with mine. From here on out i will handhold the disc while squeezing, if only for the efficacy, in other words it will work while on the spinning platter but will take 4-5 squeezes because of the earthed platter.
But please can someone explain the paragraph where it claims the release portion is done while pointing AWAY from the disc? In one sentence it say the positive and negative reactions work to combat the dust, but how can this be if you are pointing away for the release portion? I do not understand.
release while pointing the gun away from the record. This should have been labeled as step number 5. At any rate the instructions do explain that their testing equipment showed the final squeeze and release away does help "discharge a phonograph disc." I have been doing that since the 70s.
