Got the Byrd In Hand and Tina Brooks TP LPs a few weeks ago. As OD noted, packaging and vinyl is top notch, as is sound. BiH is a favorite Byrd LP, and I've never found a copy before (did have the CD version), so this was a welcome addition.
But Tina Brooks...eh, not a favorite. Unleass you're a Tina Brooks fan or a BN completist, I'd hold on this one. Music is fairly standard stuff, and sounds less than polished in spots. Sound-wise it's great, but there's something just a bit...off here. Certainly not True Blue or Back To The Tracks, or even Minor Move. YMMV, of course. I am happy to see a rarer title, not just the 40th reissue of Somethin' Else, Moanin', Blue Train, etc etc.
Follow Ups:
My copy came today and I've got it on the turntable right now.

So far, I'd have to say it's my favorite Lee Morgan album. The only fly in the ointment is the way the kick drum was miked. Might be why Alfred Lion didn't want to release it when it was first recorded.

There's a great article in this month's Stereophile on a small jazz label. Titled 'The Reservoir Story', it goes into the story of the lable, a small indie company run by a couple doctors in the 80s. They used RVG on some of their recordings. The owner 'parted ways' with RVG in 1998 after 47 recordings. He didn't like what he called 'VanGelderoids', how bass was often too loud, pianos sounding 'hooded'. Very interesting commentary if you're so inclined.
...expanded 12 record set. Being a Dex fan I can heartily recommend "One Flight Up", what a fantastic album. I have an older, DMM copy so will not be buying the new one, but the music is just marvelous.
My copy is a Blue Note with the all-blue label and the black "B." It's a Van Gelder master though.
So I'll be skipping the reissue also.
