A friend is the executor of an estate, and asked me to sell the audio-related gear for him. The records sold in a flash, mostly due to the fact that they were MOFI half-speed masters in VG+ or better condition! The Vincent gear took a bit longer, with some of it bought by me (SP-31 preamp, SA-331 amp, Pho-700 phono stage). I'm having a heck of a time selling the VPI Classic 1, either locally or on-line (it's here in the classfides).
Is the problem with the VPI that it is the early 30th anniversary edition? Maybe it's been overshadowed by the newer editions? Or is it this damn crazy uni-pivot arm? (I can't stand that thing... I'm an old-school DJ, and am used to dropping the tonearm on the record- something I don't want to do with this arm!).
I'm just ranting... thanks for listening.

Follow Ups:
The Classic is a great table and is a steal for $1500. I don't think there is enough traffic going to the add on AA.
List it on Audiogon, if it is priced right, it will sell within a couple of days

most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad..."
List it on US Audio Mart. I've had decent luck there recently.

As I see it, the package is very well priced but the deal breaker for those who are interested may be the shipping charge, even though it is a realistic amount these days. Have you tried advertising locally?
Yeah, shipping has gotten quite expensive for larger packages.I have tried selling locally, but I'm in a pretty small town for audiophile gear (Boise, Idaho) so no nibbles. I was tempted to buy it myself, but I really prefer my SOTA Comet (mostly because the unipivot arm isn't my style).
Since the friend isn't in any rush, then it can sit until the right buyer comes along.
Thanks for all the replies!

Put the ad on the Portland & Seattle CraigsList. It is a reasonable drive.
I tried that... they were flagged & pulled in less than an hour! I even stated in the ad that I was in Boise & would drive over to deliver, but to no avail...
Don't let the uni-pivot arm chase you away. It is a good design and gives you satisfaction once set up correctly. The design gives you so much control on VTA, azimuth, and SRA. You won't be limited to cartridges to use. Plus, the dual pivot add on helps to control the wobble people are scared of.
Thanks for the info... I'll pass this along to the future buyer. I'm not keeping this table, since I'm quite happy with my SOTA Comet!
The market has spoken, time to listen,
...one sold at auction for $1756. But eBay attracts a worldwide customer base - if you want to sell locally, you probably won't get that much.
Yeah, I figured such... thanks.
