plinth before building the heavy plywood plinth? I have several types of material to try except slate, and I see so many different plinths and opinions on the net. I also read about folks bolting layers of wood versus gluing.I have yet to listen to my estate sale 301 oil, as I imagine it needs lots of service. The plinth is also a thin wood box that would probably amplify motor and idler noise. Just last week I ordered several service parts from two companies in the UK.
Thanks
Three beautiful tables by the way.

Hi,
Thank you!
Unfortunately, no. I have only tried the current plinth. I am very satisfied with the results using the same construction on my two Thorens TD-124's at the time, thus the decision to build the same.
You will be pleased with the CLD plinth if you build one. It sinks the motor vibration of the 301 so effectively that even if you put your ears 5 mm. away from the platter with or without the mat when it's running, you will hear nothing. Of course the motor should be level and the springs that suspends the motor should be intact.
