Hello,
I have an older Ortofon MC20 and it has very low output. I have been told I need a specific transducer. It is Ortofon STM-72.
If anyone has one for sale or knows where to get one, please let me know.
If this is not in the right spot in the forums, please let me know. Thank you all.

I have a MC 20 super II with .2mv output and it works great with the Jensen JT 34k dx transformers at 1:36

I believe the original MC-20 has a rated output of only 0.07-mV.

The Original MC-20 was my first LOMC. I used the MCA-76 as a pre-preamp. After hearing this cartridge, I never wanted a moving magnet again. This is the cartridge that got me started on moving coils. I had a Technics SL-120 turntable with a SME 3009 Series II tonearm. This turntable was identical to the original SL-1200 but it came without a tonearm.

hi John, i had an SL120 with a Grace 707 mounted that i got from Mel Schilling at Music and Sound here in LA on Ventura Blvd across the street from Woodland Stereo (the first Infinity Servo Statik dealer).
it was perfect for my ADC XLM. years later, the speed started going wonky so i got rid of it for a Rabco ST4 which also made the XLM sing. ultimately, the ST4 had too much w&f so i moved on to a Kenwood KD500/Grace 707.
down the road, i got an Ortofon MC200 (Concord) and an Ortofon T20 SUT. i would like to own either a Kontrapunkt b or a Cadenza Black. a close friend bought an MC Anna on my recommendation (he's a happy camper) to put on his Basis tt.
rant over.

Wow! The MC Anna is an expensive cartridge. Your friend must be rich. I can't afford to spend $10,000 on a phono cartridge. ;-)
Best regards,
John Elison
he got it for $6k of his carefully earned retirement income. he had the foresight to properly bolster his retirement account since his youth.

The STM-72 will work for you, but it is not the only step-up that will work. Other Ortofon units like the MCA-76 and most (if not all) of the Fidelity Research transformers have enough gain. In fact, you might find that just about any step-up that will work with a 3 ohm load should be sufficient, although it might not be as loud as you'd like it to be.
Hey, Donnie. That sinking feeling in your gut is called karma. You are a horrible individual, and you will pay for that for the rest of your miserable life. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
