Maybe someone posted it and I missed it. How do I get more info on this device, and some pricing?
name is nclayton.
The resulting cartridge load with a SUT is given by the equation:
47,000 (default load of a MM phono stage) / (turns ratio ^2)
Yet the load values in the table you show in your first pic, don't actually mesh with this equation. The values written in the table are close ... but not exact.
I wonder why?
Andy
Close enough.

I got 580.3 for the 1:9 ratio, it's close. With my ECP-1 phono preamp and the SUT set @ 1:9 its sound good but a little too clear if that makes any sense. The gain wasn't enough so I set it at 1:12 still wasn't enough gain with my Saga Plus but it did smooth out a little and it wasn't so clear like @ 1:9. I then set the gain @ 1:18 and that was good enough gain and the sound was way better with bigger deeper sound stage and can hear all the little things in the background I was missing or didn't notice before, still clear but not overly clear like @1:9. all the instruments sound natural and with good separation.
So according to what I have read and the math behind this. The settings are as follows and what impedance is seen on the primary side. hopefully I did it correctly. LOL!
1:9 = 580.3
1:12 = 326.4
1:18 = 145.1I'm running a Audio Technica ART9 which has an output of 0.5mV, internal impedance of 10 ohms with recommended loading of 100 ohms. So maybe that's why the increase in gain sounded better @ 1:18 since that is close to what is recommended.

18*18= an impedance ratio of 342. 47000/342=137.4269....ohmsIf you want the load for the cartridge to be 100 ohms, change the 47,000 ohm input resistor on your phono preamp to a 34,200 ohm resistor.
34200/342=100
sometimes it's easier to add a parallel resistor vs. removing and replacing.
Putting a 126kohm resistor in parallel with the existing 47kohm resistor would get you real close.

Thank You for the values and advice!
What's his Ebay name or link? Curious what he charges.
Lovely workmanship. Those inputs look like Vampire CM-Hex, a very good part.
The 6440 AH are excellent.

Very, very reasonable. If I hadn't already built mine and didn't enjoy DIY so much, I wouldn't hesitate. Sheds' some light on the prices of that guy, what's his name, Bill? Ted? escapes me.

Can you plug in different cinemags or are they soldered in?
but he has other models that come socketed and you can put your own Transformers in. You can contact him on ebay or the email that's in the pic I posted.

Its really quiet and music seems to come out of black background. I know it's too early to comment on sound but this is very transparent and lets everything come through with a wider soundstage. I will post back later in the week on how it sounds then.
Ned did a great job and is very helpful even after the sale. Highly recommend this SUT!
I should have got a SUT along time ago!
