Whoever told you that US London and UK Decca are the same is 100% correct.
Follow Ups:
That UK made Londons for the U.S. market are the same as UK Deccas.
IIRC, US Londons were actually pressed in the UK, for the most part. However, there may be an exception or two - what I read (I think it was in Culshaw's Putting the Record Straight) - when Decca released Britten's War Requiem, demand was so far ahead of supply that Terry McEwen, the head of Decca in the US, had copies pressed in the US. One wonders about the pressing quality and even the source material. I don't think the 60s were necesarily the best time for US-sourced pressings - look at what happened with Philips until they started bringing in pressings from Europe.
UK Deccas and US Londons were all made in the UK on the same line. There is no difference. Reports to the contrary are rubbish. This has been beaten to death. Ask Decca if you doubt it.
"The Americans, rightly sensing a classical hit, notified London (not the label, Decca HQ - my add) that they could wait no longer and began to make their own pressings from master plates imported from London."
So, at least on this occasion - the US versions were pressed in the US - or at least some of them.
