Wow. Record store owner goes to local estate auction for lps and spends $25,000. The auction was advertised. He mentioned a record store owner from Georgia was also there. The collection was from a doctor that passed away. He had lots of audiophile jazz and classical lps. Apparently the kids kept the audio system.

Got a few old records recently. Good for the money, but no real scores in a while. I pay $4 a record and I just make sure they are not noisy (I've been lucky), but they are not really sort after stuff.
I tried one of the 50 cent records and it made a good frisbee.
Great shop!!
Worth a stop if you're in Phoenix
Yes it's nice to have a shop that takes preorders and stocks MFSL, Acoustic Sounds, Speaker Corner and others. He's also big on record store days. This collection is less interesting than others he has posted on in the past - like 130+ boxes of punk/new wave 45s from the 70s on.
I wonder how long it'll take him to earn his 25k back and start making money.
"Man, that mouse is Awesome." - Kaemon (referring to Jerry, of Tom and Jerry fame)
and there were maybe 100 LPs there. That's a good start.
The Starker and the Royal Ballet (if originals) are easily a grand each
Won't take that long to get his investment back as he seems connected.
He'll make a hundred grand on top of his investment.
Doesn't seem to matter how long it takes.

whereas the Starker has been much more stable.
It's all about right place/right time.
The guy that bought that collection seems like the sort that will find the
right confluence of time and place.
Hell, he'll create it.

I actually have two more "Royal Ballets," but my stereo copy has more scratches than the one I sold, and the other copy is mono. I have never listened to the mono copy. I don't have a dedicated mono setup.
