Orbison's voice probably benefited from the long period where he was out of style.
What really got his career going again was the movie Blue Velvet.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Follow Ups:
The scenes in the theater where the female singer does "Crying", in Spanish "Llorando", are absolutely spell-binding. David Lynch used it to foreshadow later events; the two female protagonists are in the audience, in tears. I saw "Crying" used again in a very similar setting in "Goliath", a series with Billy Bob Thornton, on Amazon Prime or HBO, again with a female singer who did a great job.
