Was browsing and saw klemperers st. Matthews passion for 7 bucks mint. I was a little turned off by what I thought was the prior owners signature on the cover. Took it home and discovered it was the sig of "Elisabeth Legge Schwarzkopf" love it when that happens

My Klemperer St Matthew's Passion set on EMI also had a very artistic looking signature on the cover of the booklet; however, unlike yours, it didn't seem to match up with any of the cast!
Best regards,
When it came out in the early '60s, my mother said go buy a record for your birthday. She almost fainted when it turned out to be this five record set. Sadly it did not survive my first marriage. A few years later, in graduate school, I was privileged to sing all the bass arias in concert. I still feel lucky.

Nice story. Lucky your mom considered a 5 lp box set one lp!
Ah, so she went by Legge Schwarzkopf, instead of Schwarzkopf Legge. Interesting.
Yeah I noticed that. I will those more qualified than me to dissect the psychology of that
