I have a Graham 2.0 mounted on an Oracle MKV. I have read where the bearing cap upgrade, 2.2, makes a hell of a difference in sound. After looking online at the 2.2 bearing cap, I can see absolutly no difference between the upgraded cap, and the one on my 2.0. I got to thinking. Audio reviewers in several very respected publications swear the improvement is anything but subtle. So what could account for this? Material, weight?. I decided to see if maybe weight made a difference. I took a ball of mortite plumbers putty about the 1/3 the size of a golf ball. Applied it to the top of the 2.0 bearing cap, nd played some familiar vinyl. It does sound better! I played the same side of a couple albums a few times with and then without the added mortite weight. Its undeniable to me that it sounds better with it. It sounded like I was hearing further back into the soundstage. Image more spread out into the room. Minute details more easily to distinguish in the soundfield. I don't know, maybe the added weight on top of the bearing cap damps some resonance or whatever, but music is more enjoyable with it than without. So , I guess I will spring for the cap upgrade. Especially since it looks funky, and my dust cover won't close with it there.

Follow Ups:
The upgrade does make a difference. Your Mortite mod experience is close and useful, but the upgrade carries the effects you heard further.
I have the same Oracle, with the Delphi Six motor and controller. I even took the time to swap old and new bearing caps to make sure I was not fooling myself.
The new bearing cap is definitely an improvement, plus you get a cool sticker you can put on your tonearm.
I believe the Fremer review of the 2.2 upgrade did describe the difference in build between the 2.0 and 2.2 needle caps. Look for a Stereophile issue dating back to 2001/02 or thereabouts.
