My experience is that the constant chase of something better wears some of us out. Once you get over that it is much more pleasurable.

Music is such an integral part of my being that I can't imagine voluntarily letting it go. I do understand that there's a time to enjoy the system that you have rather than chase after audio nirvana. I recognize that everyone's different but music is a part of the soul. I can't imagine giving it up voluntarily.

I think once you get over that, you're probably ready to die. Half the fun of this hobby is thinking about something new. Of course, thinking about it and searching for it is often more fun that actually buying it. ;-)

...in over ten years (except for a stylus replacement) and I am still happy with it. I have no plans to change anything on a permanent basis. I have been known to swap out a piece for a while but I always go back to my listed system.

It sounds to me like you were searching for something. ;-)
...really searching for anything. Spare headshells, maybe? Note that I now have around 6 or 8; asset reduction is sometimes nice.

But I hate to admit how many turntables, tonearms, and cartridges I had to accumulate before reaching this state of grace. Not to mention phono stages and speakers.
