would likely sell his vinyl rig and LPs. He said he was finished with the asylum, but I didn't know he deleted his account.

Follow Ups:
An audio system is a tool, like a TV. When I want to hear music, I turn it on and when I don't, I don't. I rarely hear of someone getting rid of their TV because they're burned out, they just don't watch anything.
If you're burned out on audio, I think what you've really done is let too many distractions creep into what should be as enjoyable as slipping into a hot tub. Who cares whether some forum agrees with your latest acquisitions? Who cares if you're the only guy who likes death metal remakes of polka tunes? Who cares if no one else believes you that rebar makes the best speaker cable?
Actually, if you've tried rebar as speaker cable, maybe that explains why you're not enjoying the music enough.

Methinks he did care and therein was the issue with the asylum.

Music has been a constant in my life. I've ridden motorcycles and played golf. I don't do either of those anymore. Can't get my head into golf anymore. When I needed a motorized toy I went with a sports car with nice power and removable top (convertible). Those are hobbies. Music is a lifestyle.

You paid HOW MUCH for that electrical receptacle?!!! Are YOU nuts?
My experience is that the constant chase of something better wears some of us out. Once you get over that it is much more pleasurable.

Music is such an integral part of my being that I can't imagine voluntarily letting it go. I do understand that there's a time to enjoy the system that you have rather than chase after audio nirvana. I recognize that everyone's different but music is a part of the soul. I can't imagine giving it up voluntarily.

I think once you get over that, you're probably ready to die. Half the fun of this hobby is thinking about something new. Of course, thinking about it and searching for it is often more fun that actually buying it. ;-)

...in over ten years (except for a stylus replacement) and I am still happy with it. I have no plans to change anything on a permanent basis. I have been known to swap out a piece for a while but I always go back to my listed system.

It sounds to me like you were searching for something. ;-)
...really searching for anything. Spare headshells, maybe? Note that I now have around 6 or 8; asset reduction is sometimes nice.

But I hate to admit how many turntables, tonearms, and cartridges I had to accumulate before reaching this state of grace. Not to mention phono stages and speakers.

He kinda just disappeared without a word.
Joel album ( Glass Houses) which Bob Ludwig had mastered. We also posted on the, now defunct, "darkside". We had different views but he always maintained a cordial approach to disagreement. I often wondered if we weren't saying the same thing, just using different words.

It's good to know he's ok.
I've become burned out on audio more than a few times in my life. Luckily for me, other than one bad economic turn where I chose to sell an expensive turntable (Maplenoll Signature Ariadne), I've kept everything, especially my LPs, through eight post-divorce, job chasing moves. I'd hate to have had to start over where they were concerned.
Since we're on the subject, do you and Ferd still keep in touch? I hope so, and hope he's doing well too.
