I get upset about a lot of things that don't affect me directly. I wish I didn't. It's part of being human and I think most of us are disposed this way. Admittedly, this is a small issue but sometimes it's cathartic to vent when something strikes a chord or rises to a certain level of disgust. It's true- this is not stealing or even misrepresenting ( the seller clearly defines what he is selling), but I can't help feeling that though there is nothing illegal here, it certainly doesn't represent the best of human nature.

There are a lot of greedy SOBs out there, and as the old saying goes "there's a sucker born every minute". I agree that it's a low form of humanity that preys on the gullible.twystd

I think you're wrong about that. Of course, maybe I'm the one who's wrong, but I think that most people don't worry about things unless they affect them directly. Anyone who gets upset at things that don't affect them will be a very miserable person because they will be continually upset and I don't think most of us are continually upset. Of course, maybe I'm wrong. At least, I'm not upset, though. ;-)
Good luck,

Well put.Daily, I wonder, why is this "national news"?
I watch the CBS morning program, only because it's less useless than ABC or NBC.
But I can't remember the last time they talked about the Federal Reserve raising interest rates, or why oil is at $44 a barrel, or if shipping/trucking is up or down, or if single-family home prices and mortgage rates and food prices are up or down. I gotta find that elsewhere. All they do is yap about Trump and Russians (which is a non-story), and the weather.
I feel sorry for the family which lost a teenage child, and the family whose son is in a coma, and the 20-year unsolved murder, and ...
But, none of that affects my life, except to affect my emotions, which is one of the goals of current "news reporting". Fortunately, I'm smart enough to "get" that. I want useful "real" news.
Is that too much to ask?
Apparently so.

I thought I was the only one.
Car crashes, fires, freak accidents. None of this is news. It's voyeurism.
The things you mention are the real news. The pain pill epidemic isn't news. It's a symptom of what should be the news, yet it's never mentioned because it's "sexier" to show a couple passed out in a car with a toddler in the back seat. But never is it mentioned why this is happening. (By the way, it's probably because these people have lost hope of ever having a job again...but I'm not sure BECAUSE NO JOURNALISTS SEEM TO CARE!!!!)
The state of what passes for news today makes me sad and furious.
I guess it's a matter of degree and the definition of the word UPSET. Many things bother me ( ex: politics today, the chance of nuclear war, health insurance), but I don't obsess about it.
