So they got close to the original stereo mix?
If so then what was the point of re-mixing?
I just watched a video of an interview with the engineer who said the original mix was mono. The Stereo mix was an after thought, not even done by the real session engineers.

Not following at all how you went from what you quoted to what you concluded?
This is a remix and much better done than the after thought original stereo mix. This sounds better than any previous release remastered, too. Not even close. This is totally well balanced and full sounding. My only thought is that a bit more overall compression was used but who cares this sounds great.
Agreed on all counts. This version is the new reference standard for Beatles albums.
