A little bleach and a light sanding and we're good to go.

Cool. Be sure to apply clear expoxy finish to the top to fill in all the cuts and gouges that cause micro vibrations due to an uneven surface.

I do use a similar idea for the platform of my Citation II and turntable.
I found a 3' x 3'x 5" maple Boos block local. Since the legs were damaged I got it very reasonably. I also have to say I was disappointed in Boos customer support trying to replace the broken die cast(cheap) corner connector. Anyway sitting on three tire tubes it's a wonderful place to put my amp.
My turntable is placed on an 20" x 28" butcher block table made by a local carpenter who decided he no longer needed it.
Craigslist can be our friend!
I'm sure Mapleshade sells that for $2.3 million, or two for $4.5 million. :)
Hmmm. I have a big leaf maple stump about that size in the back yard. I wonder how that would work.
Don't forget the spikes for the bottom of the legs. :)
