Background:
I used to run my Roksan Kandy III as integrated. We moved, and I tried to compromise, using it as tape loop and phono preamp (MM or HO MC).
Roksan preamp out into one of the high level inputs on my Denon AVR 2313, and sounds good.
Ran into problem reimagining a new bedroom or study system. "Lost" my Dynaco PAS 2 and McIntosh MA 5100. No preamps available except my Roksan. Loaned my PS Audio IVH out.
What preamp option would you recommend? Need phono at least MM, probably best to have MC (like the PS Audio IVH). Are there any with tape loops?
Follow Ups:
the Schiit mani at ~$130 will do both mc and mm and has received validation in the press. what can you lose?

A lot depends on how much you want to spend. There are Accuphase preamps that have both MM and MC capabilities and the are Yamaha preamps that have the same capabilities. I am sure there are many others, so how much are you willing to spend?
$700 max? Hope to be under $500 for MM/MC capability, although I already blew it and got the Hana HOMC SH.
I would check out the Lounge Audio LCR mk III MM preamp $300.. They also sell Their Copla step up for MC carts. $260. these both work together so you would have both MM and MC cart. capabilities. I am considering one myself. They have gotten great reviews...
Never heard it, but it gets raves and costs exactly within your limits.
Seriously nice sounding adjustable phono, Vista Audio Phono 2.
4 bills competes way above that.Recomended!!
