Thank you John and magick47.
I already knew about KAB, but I was curious about RoyLCraft. After further research I'm going to pass on it. I'll either find an excellent condition Mk2 and send it to Kevin or perhaps I'll spring for a new version SL1200 in the fall.
Cheers,
SB
Follow Ups:
I'd love to have one of the new Technics SL-1200G turntables but I just can't quite motivate myself to part with the price of admission. ;-)
If you buy one, let us know how you like it. One inmate here owns both the VPI Prime and the SL-1200GAE, and he likes the sound of the SL-1200GAE better. I've heard the Prime and it sounds awesome to me so the new Technics must be something else.
Best regards,
John Elison
John,
I agree with you about the $4k price of the new SL1200 and that's the main reason that I'm waiting 'til Fall. I'm also curious about the less expensive SL1200 that's been recently announced, but I don't know the details. The price ($1.6k) seems right!
I'll be sure to post with my thoughts should I buy either :-)
Cheers,
SB
SpotcheckBilly12345 I recently saw a SL-1200Mk2 listed on Audiogon with it looked like every KAB upgrade, not sure if it's still available, no connection to seller, price seemed decent and from what I remember the table/upgrades were new and hadn't been installed/used. Also as you mentioned re the new less costly SL-1200 could be another option, waiting to see how the reviews of this model pan out is a good idea. The 1200G has received wide acclaim so far with a price tag to match the performance. Smart move to avoid the RoyalCraft, I'v seen no talk re the RC tables on the main stream audio sites, maybe you could find something on sites catering to DJs.
