There's been a lot of talk about the big Kenny's susceptibility to airborne acoustic feedback. Well in the pics above take note of the volume knob's position, the Rock's location, and the fact there are two 12" subs plumbing the depths.
I'll admit that there was a bit of an issue with the Kenny located essentially in a cave centered between the speaks. But with a little ingenuity and about an hour of my time and all is good. I started a thread on just what steps were taken to get here if interested.

Kingshead,
Where do I find the thread you started on the isolation process?
The thread for isolating the "Rock"?I'm not sure if this thread mentions what I did to the platter, or the Vibrapods I used under the feet, but it does show what I did for the Corian base.

Thank you - great idea!
For the platter I ordered a sheet of 1/4" thick sorbothane, cut out a circle the size of the mat and placed it between the mat and the platter. Sorbothane turns the vibrational energy into heat and disipates it, thus completely deadening the platter.Years ago Audioquest sold a mat made of sorbojel for $90, I liked the first one so much I purchased a second. Unknown to me and many others it has a reaction with vinyl causing the vinyl to blister, like it has the measles. Ya, ruined many of my most treasured records before I realized what was going on. I read somewhere where Audioquest refunded and/or replaced many customers albums.
But that's beside the point, the point is it works, even when under the mat. Now at first listen with it under the mat you might think something is wrong, don't take it out, you need to acclimate to just how much more music you're hearing and how much less platter, really, I'm not kidding. Be prepared if you take this final step for a soundstage scarily holographic.
This alone had the biggest impact on the sound.

This is my "Rock" sitting on an actual rock.
No problems with my subwoofers. Actually there was no problem before the granite slab.
Part of the motivation for the slab was to provide a spot for the Grace internet radio tuner.

Phil,
How do you like the Grace internet radio? Acceptable sound quality?
Thanks.

Freak out...Far out...In out....
Hi Dee eye why,
I like it fine. The sound quality is good. I just use the RCA outputs into the AUX of my stereo. It also has Toslink as well as an RCA digital output.
The model which I have is the GDI-IRDT200. It connects to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet.
So far I just use it for broadcast radio stations which stream and on occasion terrestrial FM should the internet go down. It will do other tricks such as other internet services like Pandora and it will play files from SD cards.
The FM antenna input is the size of an F connector however it is not an F connector. They give a short piece of wire which plugs into it. Should I ever get my terrestrial FM antenna up I'll have to change the connector or find an adapter.
I'm pretty happy with it and I find it reasonably user friendly. It replaces a Roku soundbridge which I thought was user hostile. The old Roku is out in the garage now and still works but is getting funky.
When I set up my stereo upstairs I'll probably get another Grace like what I have for that system.
Phil
Tried a 2" thick slab of concrete, no improvement dealing with the feedback issue. It was airborne being picked up by the big Kenny itself not through its feet, I had already addressed any issues there with a set of Vibrapods. Dealing with the airborne feedback issue was a bit trickier than just plopping it on a better surface, I wish it had been so easy. But as it turned out it wasn't all that difficult, and certainly not expensive.Martin
