Picture taken with my iPhone.I bought this DV-20XL years ago and put it aside. The stylus is resting on a compact disc on the platter. As you can see, there's barely any clearance. VTF is a touch over 2g.
It *sounds* fantastic, though.
I don't hear or see any evidence that the cartridge body is ever touching the record. If there's no danger that it will damage records, I'm inclined to use it for the remaining life of the stylus.

It may need a new suspension. They go bad. I had a similar problem on a Technics EPC 100 MK4.
I bet that CD sounds like crap :). The stylus looks vertical from the surface. My experience with DV (20-XL and 17D2) is that they sound better with the tail up just a tad. OTOH clear by a mm is as good as clear by a mile and if it sounds good just close your eyes when you listen.
I married the perfect woman. The downside is everything that goes wrong is my fault.
You don't mention your arm.....can't you properly adjust it ? too much VTF, too low from the pivot etc.

I should update the cartridge info, though.
SRA/VTA adjustment involves loosening two locking nuts and moving the arm pillar against a spring-loaded force. It takes a bit of trial and error.
The limitation on VTA is clearance from the cuing lever in the fully-lowered position.
I've already had it at a higher VTA that seemed a bit thin sounding, but I may have gone too far the other way.
