And it is very, very good. Compared to my vinyl copy its a toss-up but I'd give the edge to the download. IIRC I have the 25th anniversary pressing of Band On The Run.First of all, I am not a digital proponent. Given the choice I would listen to vinyl any day of the week. I use high res files on my work system. My work system is as follows:
1) Source: Toshiba Satellite S75Dt-A with a 1TB SSD internal hard drive, 12GB RAM, 3TB external USB HDD and 1TB external USB HDD
2) USB Cables: 2 - 0.5m Pangea Silver USB cables
3) USB Decrapper: Schiit Wyrd
4) DAC: Schiit Modi Multibit
5) Analog IC: 0.5m Kimber Hero w/WBT connectors
6) Headphone Amp: Schiit Lyr 2 w/NOS National 7DJ8 tubes
7) Headphones: HiFi Man HE-400S
8) Software: OS - Windows 10 Home v1511, Player - Foobar 2000 v1.3.14 (with Kernel streaming output v1.2.2, ASIO support v2.1.2), USB Driver - Schiit USB Audio Gen 2I have quite a few high res downloads and I have several high res files made from my vinyl. I am listening to the Band On The Run download under question as I write this and it is very clean, dynamic and not strident at all.
All things considered I would never consider complaining about this download. Maybe the best available pressing of this LP is better but its not going to be a huge difference. It really is that good.

Thanks for your comment. I wasn't able to find the details of your analog setup. I did a bit of comparison testing over the weekend, so I 'resurrected' my old Dual 505 turntable with Audiotechnica cartridge. When comparing the hi-res uncompressed FLAC with the LP played on my Dual, the hi-res playback wins.
However, when comparing the hi-res playback with the analog playback on my current turntable, the analog blows the digital away, big time.
So I think it's basically down to equipment. I'm not ruling our the possibility that some ultra high end digital system could kick ass on my current analog setup. And so on...
Turntable: VPI Prime w/walnut plinth, HRX Pulley and 3 belt drive
Tonearm: VPI 3D
Speed Control: VPI ADS
Cartridge: Ortofon Quintet Black S
Phono Cable: Audioquest Leopard
Phono Preamp: Liberty Audio B2B-1
Analog ICs: Kimber Hero w/WBT RCA connectors
Preamp: Audible Illusions L1 w/NOS National 7DJ8s (recapped)
Power Amp: Adcom GFA-555II w/Auricap Input coupling caps (recapped)
Speaker Cables: Kimber 8TC
Speakers: Magnepan MGMC1

Thanks for supplying the details of your setup. You have an awesome system!
I find it surprising that on a system as beefy as yours you are not detecting the differences between vinyl and hi-res format of "Band on the Run". Could it be due to you listening to hi-res over the headphones while listening to the LP on your speakers?
There is nothing wrong with my headphones nor do they limit fidelity. The HiFi Man HE-400S is not the best headphone on the planet but they are excellent for their price point and outperform many headphones that are much more expensive.
If you are having performance issues with the high resolution download maybe you should look at your own digital setup to find the problem. Sorry, but I cannot find any performance issues with the download you wrote about. I can state without any hesitation that the problem is not in that download.
I spent this weekend auditioning the new Analogue Productions Bloodlines box set. That box set is all four of the Blood, Sweat and Tears albums, mastered from the original analog master tapes at 45rpm and pressed on 200 gm vinyl by QRP. This is very, very good vinyl.
I can guarantee that I know that my system is performing very well and my modest work system is also performing very well. Nothing is limiting the fidelity enough to mask any difference. I do not own the best system in the world but I do understand what I have and whether it is working or not.
I don't know why you are having problems with that download but I would be willing to post one of the tracks from that high res download on my website so you can compare it to your copy. Let me know if you want to try this and which track you want to try.

I'm sure your setup sounds awesome, that's not the issue at all. My digital sounds quite good, I spent a lot of time tweaking it etc. And the hi-res digital download of "Band on the run" sounds very good also... Until you play the vinyl! After you hear it on the vinyl, going back to the hi-res playback forces me to notice that something is amiss. Maybe it's down to my digital chain not being able to match my analog chain, I'm not sure.
Overall, I have spent a lot of time tweaking my digital transport (logging in to the box and modifying the Linux config parameters). My goal was to configure the digital transport so that the playback approximates the vinyl. And I was satisfied with the results, until, again, I compared it side by side with the real thing.
