...a very influential guitar player. After Hendrix, the sound of rock changed forever. For the better imho.

Not long after the European release and before any single or LP release in the US their US tour began they were almost unknown.
Notice the Experience is third on the bill behind the Airplane (who were actually substituted by Big Brother) and Garbor Szabo. The only time I can recall an opening act drawing the whose who of what was then called the San Francisco Underground Music Sceen.
He was 12 and I was 10. He bought the stereo version and then he separated the speakers from our cheap Sears suitcase stereo and cranked it up. One of the few musical life changing events of my life, I never heard music the same after that.

And they played everything from this LP plus some new stuff that had not yet been released. Don't ask me any details because it was 1968 and I wasn't a good boy.
What a great showman Jimi was. A superb guitar player.

Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof
At a local club in Bromley, Kent. Hey Joe had entered the charts but the Experience didn't appear to have much of an act at that time so they repeated the same set of about 5 songs three times. Still that was going to be the last period that anyone much saw them in an intimate club setting (200 audience and the place was jammed).Next time was at the Technicolour 24 Hour Dream at Alexandra Palace the following summer in '67 then twice in Brighton in 1968, once on a package tour at Brighton Dome ( with, if my chemically edited brain stored the memory correctly, the Incredible String Band and Amen Corner). Later than summer at Sussex University ( Mick Farren and the Social Deviants supporting).
Last time was the final Experience concert at the Royal Albert Hall in '69.
Wow, what a time for live bands.

(6-01-67). U.S. Release of the Experienced album was held until August 23.
A bit off topic, but I came across AXYS TV the other night, and there was a cover band called "The Fab Four" performing the entire Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band live to an audience. It was incredibly good, musically speaking! Even had Sitars, Tablas, etc. being played during "Within You, Without You".
See ya. Dave
The LP was released on a Friday, and by Sunday, Jimi was opening his show with Sgt. Pepper's.
