After a long, very cold and unusually snowy Wyoming winter, we're finally seeing nice weather and the yard sale season beginning.
I had to pass on the twenty or so EZ Listening and Soft Rock LP's I found at one sale, but I did buy this Pioneer PL-41 for $5 and five R2R tapes at $1 apiece. The turntable needs a new belt and the tonearm bearings adjusted, hopefully not much more aside from cleaning. Pretty dusty, this is how I found it, but it appears to be in good condition overall.

With a little effort that table will look great.
Nice score.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
That TT looks like, to use a horse analogy since we're in "triple crown" season, it's been rode hard and put away wet. $5 is about right, maybe even 10.
:)
It already looks a lot better after a quick cleaning to get the dust off. I think some boiled linseed oil will help the wood regain its luster. The motor spins and being a manual design, there's not much else to go wrong. We'll see when I put on a new belt and do a basic clean & lube.
The tonearm does need attention, for some reason the bearings are loose.
The big question in my mind is whether it will spin at correct speed. Like many simple belt drives, the design is such that platter speed is wholly dependent on 'pulley ratio' which is fixed.

Yes, the cartridge in on small sled under the headshell. Loosen the knob on top of the headshell and overhang can be adjusted easily.
Sorry I wasn't more clear in my post. Bill.
Amboy Dukes... the great Gonzo!!!!
