In Reply to: RE: Replacing Rega RB300 with Jelco SA-750D posted by magiccarpetride on April 24, 2017 at 11:56:05
The Rega is 222 mm and the Jelco 211 (Linn compatible). The Jelco SA-370H is 222 and is the only Jelco that is a drop in replacement for a Rega arm.

I can report that the 370 is a very good arm stock and with a few mods an excellent arm. I've changed out the head shell and counterweight and added further damping to the arm tube. It easily allows you to hear difference in cartridge and pre-amps and very accommodating to a wide variety of cartridges.I do think that the Jelco 370 stock is a maybe a touch better but modded the Jelco is heads above the stock Rega.
I also like Rega arms, too, and feel that either the Michell Tecnoarm or Audiomods arms are fantastic. I have had both and currently run an Audiomods.
Honestly, My modded 370 is maybe just as good sounding as my Audiomods.
I've never owned or heard a 750 but it is suppose to have higher grade bears but the bears in the 370 are not an issue, IMO. I also like that the 370 arm is 9.5"

Auto-correct strikes again, I'm assuming.
Thanks for the feedback on the Jelco 370. I have one, but never installed it.
Yes it does. Do we bear arms or arm bears! I've got to get my bearings straight.
Thanks for having a sense of humor, and thanks again for the Jelco 370 feedback.

You inspired me to buy the SA-370H, I'm afraid to think how long ago. Now how about some motivation to actually install the damn thing?
Actually, what happened was, I decided to replace the capacitors in my aging, but still working fine, Technics SL-110. The plan was to recap it, then install the Jelco in place of the wispy, ultra-low mass J.H. Formula IV.
Removing old caps didn't go as planned, and I tore up a trace on a circuit board. I love soldering stuff in, but really, really dislike desoldering and removing old components.
After the mishap I put the project aside, and moved on to something else. Time to put it back on my list of things to do.
The 370 only has individual wires coming out the bottom of the pillar. These need to be either directly soldered to ICs or to a KAB jackplate or the like.

Came with one of these, shown above. The Technics arm on the 1100 plugged into the internal set of jacks, then you ran your own interconnects to your preamp. At least that's how I think they did it.
I bought the 110A model, which was sold without an arm, but still has the jacks installed. It also has a large rubber grommet on the back, which lookes something like this...
I ran my Keith Monks, and later the J.H. arm cable out through the grommet, directly to my preamp.
I had already bought a length of Cardas tonearm cable and silver RCAs to solder directly to the 370s base wires. I got frustrated after the circuit board mishap, so I set the whole project aside for a while.
I'm going to have to finish re-capping it, then have a new armboard made.
