Just sayin'
Follow Ups:
It does not really 'drive' it, it outputs a voltage & current and then interfaces with the load, which influences it's behavior (there I go, with the word behavior)

What you describe is commonly referred to as "driving", when the signal goes from one component to some other component which thereby is excited to act on the signal, downstream in the direction of the speakers, ultimately. (Preamplifier drives amplifier; amplifier drives speaker.) My only point was that the signal (or the "drive") does not go from phono stage to cartridge. I'm sure everyone knows this, and I kind of wish I hadn't brought it up.
