Yikes! Those are some pretty serious looking drivers...how do the Hitachi's sound? More vintage gear to research...thanks?
Follow Ups:
had the kind of gear shown by others and you in your post.
Acoustic bass tones are real distinct with good attack, and I am hearing hall ambiance that I have never heard before. I am away from there right now, and I cannot remember what the highs were like. At least, they were non-fatiguing.
The drivers certainly look high-end...rarely see stuff like that anymore, even in very high-end gear. The surround on the woofer is interesting. Looks like it's pleated.
The big receiver on the bottom left...looks to be a Yamaha...is it in service or do you use the NAD?
I found the below comment on Audio Karma for the Hitachi HS-500 pair, but there are a few more if you want to bother with Babelfish translation of Japanese sites. One Japanese site is dedicated to the speaker and its modifications. I have partially translated that site, but all I will ever do is update the electrolytic caps in the crossover. Inmate Coner has made comments about the speaker on the vintage and speaker asylums. The woofer is definitely pleated. My pair cost $30 at Salvation Army, when the 70s stuff still showed up in local thrift stores. That doesn't happen here anymore.
