Could always tell from his posts you couldn't go wrong taking Pat's advice.

...wouldn't be too difficult to make it in solid walnut and there would be difference in tone as I found fooling around with walnut armboards.
Would be fun to try. Give the carving chisels and mallet a workout.
Would add to the cost of the turntable. When Matt designed the Prime they had a price point in mind. To bring a walnut option to the market would have added hundreds of dollars to the bottom line.
Maybe it could be a option but somehow I think VPI has enough options already.
We don't shush around here!
Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof
It's a shame they decided to increase the original price of $3500. It's a very nice looking turntable but it's not expensive to manufacture. After all, it doesn't even have electrically switchable speed or electrically adjustable speed. Technics makes a turntable with quartz locked direct-drive and electrically switchable speeds of 78-rpm, 45-rpm and 33-rpm complete with tonearm for $4000 or even less. At least one inmate who owns both likes his Technics SL-1200G better.
