As part of an attempt to downsize, I just sold all of my vinyl records (200+). I had not purchased vinyl for a long time, and I just didn't listen that often to vinyl anymore. Sold it all to a friend who really wanted the rather eclectic collection. So, he got a pretty good collection in excellent shape. I could have made more if I had sold them individually, but that would have taken a lot of time and effort. This was a much simpler solution.
Next up, gotta sell the ol' turntable, one that has been with me for over 30 years. There is something a bit cathartic about downsizing, though it is a bit traumatizing as well.
Follow Ups:
getting an ADC and software to preserve the heavy lot to a 24/96 digital format - which preserves all the goodness for me. I've yet to really begin the process, but that is that plan. :)
In time I too, will need to retire the "big system" and think in terms of downsizing. The attachment for me is to the music, not the media collection.
There were a few records that I have subsequently replaced with a CD because I wanted to have those particular recordings. Most I will probably not try to replace and most of the music listen to I already have on CD or SACD now.
went to a good home..

Yes, the person is a friend of mine, so if I want to go listen to the records at his house, that's no problem. :)
Do you have a lot of CDs?
I downsized my system, too. However, I have never gotten rid of my records. Instead, I downsized my digital front end by replacing my CD transport, DAC and blu-ray disc player with an Oppo BDP-105D universal digital player. Then I ripped all my CDs to my computer hard drive so I can play them from a USB drive connected directly to my Oppo BDP-105D. It's so much more convenient to play CDs from a list displayed on my HDTV instead of inserting them individually into a CD tray. I don't plan to get rid of my CDs but I packed them into several boxes and stored them in the garage.
Good luck,
John Elison
I have a lot more CDs than records, which was one of the motivating factors. And I'm not interested in streaming or computer audio at all. I'm perfectly happy putting CDs or SACDs into the player. Not as good as the old days when we looked at every inch of an album cover while listening to the record.

That would be my intention...the things I will be selling, I'd like to post here first because I would most like to deal with Asylum members if I can. I'm finding that down sizing can be a bit of a slippery slope. :)
