Sure, it is a lifestyle product. But honestly, could it possibly be worse than a Crosley or other bottom dweller of vinyl playback? It's for people who don't want the hassle or space requirements for a traditional turntable.
I wouldn't want one, but upscale folks in urbal apartments might. The fundraising goal has already been surpassed with lots of time remaining on the clock.

Conceptually, I think is a very cool item.
Obviously,someone would be buying one of these for the "experience" as mentioned.I would get one of these over the Crosely, although maybe their "top dog" isn't so bad either.
Likely, with a decent setup, it still sounds more convincing than an equivalent CD arraingment.
I will point to my Nakamichi "Soundspace 5" which I like and I think sounds pretty good considering what it is.
I've been hoping to find something neat to replace it (and i have to say that even after 15 years it's going strong).
AND it's a new speaker project because I've always wanted to try some Lowther full range speakers in an infinite baffle (in-wall) situation.
