I've nuded one before with good results but I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the best version of the DL103R? It looks like Zu is sold out and Soundsmith seems to have stopped stocking them. Anyone else out there selling them?

...beautifully designed and machined, and certainly a worthy alternative to the Zu or Soundsmith versions.
Available in cool colours too!!
You can pick one up on Ebay for a reasonable price with matched channels and get a Paradox aluminum body, nude and pot it yourself. An easy afternoon project with steady hands. I took this path, and later sent it to Andy for a line contact stylus with sapphire cantilever. Great sounding, especially after the stylus upgrade.

My fave is the DL 103R PRO, from 2juki at $768. (Tho I never heard a Zu.) The midrange is still sweet as ever, but not at the expense of the frequency extremes.
2Juki is also selling the Audio Technica Art-9 for $850. No contest IMO.
I had the ART7 but it didn't have the midrange magic of the DL-103 family.
The 103 is pretty fantastic here - where most of the/my music lives. I would recommend trying a Zu Audio 103 mark 2 if you're even remotely curious.
I have never been able to do more than admire the technically amazing, AT line-up. Perhaps that's my loss. But I will likely never part with any of my 103s. In fact, I'll likely buy more.

The PRO is nice. But it wasn't as big a jump over the standard 103 and 103R as I had expected.

There are other cartridges higher in the Denon food chain at those prices
... they sometimes have a few more they're working on, in batches. That's how I got mine in January '16. Gerrit's a total gent.
I went for their version as I wanted to keep as much of the 103 character as possible before changing to a different cantilever/stylus arrangement.

+1 on both counts: write to Zu, and Gerrit is an example setter for great customer service.
Zu does in fact work on these in batches (as they arrive from Denon), and every time I went to their site to check on availability it seems they had alway just sold out. Sent them an email, and Gerrit replied saying he'd put me on their list for notification when their next batch was ready. A couple weeks later, he emailed to let me know they had some ready, I sent the funds, and the cartridge was in my hands 2 days later. Well worth the wait as the cartridge is a delight.
