A digital microscope for rake angle as well as a digital oscilloscope are mentioned. Are these explained in the Fremer videos? If not, can someone give a more detailed explanation? I am totally in the dark on this. Thanks.
Here's the link:
thanks for linking to this I really enjoyed it.
interesting, personable, intelligent guy. He came into a record store I worked at about 18 years ago
and... all that was true then too.
Regular video postings on his website would probably be a good thing.
"One this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" - Michael McClure
Like the new website.
92 degrees.. who knew...
for posting it.....enjoyed listening to it
Enjoying his analogplanet.com website too. More frequent updates than musicangle.com and a mix of LP and turntable reviews (I think Stereophile stipulated that Music Angle only focus on LPs and recordings).
My day has been much better for it!
He's a good guy. I've e-mailed him a few times out of the blue, and he's always been helpful and gracious.
+1. Agree with you, same experience here!
+2. A very intelligent, nice and entertaining guy, and a very good writer too. As far as the controversy he sometimes generates, I can't help but suspect it's intentional on his part. More power to him, he attracts plenty of attention to what he's saying.
Michael can be a breathe of fresh air to us audio/music folks.
He's totally right about purchases. Most of us can remember if not the exact day and time at least the general era in our lives when we bought those LP's. At least new ones. Maybe used ones are harder to define but no downloads give us those memories. Even cd purchases lack a bit of that purchase fondness.
VINYL IS DIFFERENT!
He certainly does understand the unique qualities and allure of vinyl. More importantly, he's quite articulate and effective in expressing his observations and opinions.
I may not agree with everything he's written, but hats off to Fremer, gotta respect a champion for analog & vinyl.
In parts of the video his facial expressions and eye movement behind his glasses sorta reminded me of Floyd the barber from the Andy Griffith Show. LOL :-)
Not that it's a bad thing but Floyd was quite funny in the t.v. show.
I had no idea Fremer had been in radio. I especially enjoyed the recounting of his relatively brief radio career.
