Yes, good rule the TT was not purchased this way, I've had it for a long while, the head shell broke, I am sending the piece to be re-wired.

Inmates thanks everyone for the help, this is the first time I posted in the vinyl asylum and you guys are even better than the tube inmates where I spend most of my time..
I was able to get a response from Bill at "fixmydual" and he will re- build by old head shell and test it...
thanks for the help!

Here's one at a seller I've dealt with several times. I'm not affiliated with this seller, other than being a satisfied customer.
They come up regularly on ebay. What's rare is the plastic alignment jig. I've been trying to find one, it seems, forever.

William Thacker in Germany has new ones. Takes a few weeks to deliver, but you can get new quality, important for connections.
There are always a few up there. A clean one usually goes $20- $30 or so. The only problem is that a lot of them are for sale with a cartridge. You can also keep an eye out for banged up Dual turntables at thrifts or yard sales. A friend of mine recently had a trashed 1009 which he gave to me to dispose of, which I happily did, after rescuing the headshell and cartridge (a Shure M80E, which is a strange one). I also have a 1229, it's the same headshell.
Try South Street Service in NY.
Not sure if they would have one or not, but you could try asking at http://fixmydual.com/ or http://www.doctordual.ca/. Those guys both do lots of repairs so likely have them or can point you in a direction. Otherwise just keep searching eBay until one comes up. I think those are slightly less hard to run across than the headshells I have to get for my table (1009sk). But, none of the vintage Dual headshells are cheap nowadays.
Those are getting very tough to find. They come up on eBay from time to time. you might e-mail Seth (inmate notransistors) He has several Duals.
