My trip to DC was nice and non-partisan. Enjoyed the whole experience. I got to see the Stradivarius violin display at the Smithsonian. I did make it to 2 used book stores on Dupont circle (behind the CVS). One had a great classical CD section albeit not in the best alphabetical order.
*Also, drove out to Manassas, VA to the McKay's used book store. Nice large vinyl section but 99.9% rock and pop. Classical CD's were decent for a store this size. Also went to Gifted Listener in Centerville, VA and talked briefly with the owner. He had a nice vinyl "slant" to his store and a MOST wonderful sounding system using Linn electronics with the option of vinyl source. Nice store. Maggie Dealer but alas, not one single pair on demo (except for the mini). Disappointing.
*Bottom line---kids today are listening to their Iphones on the metro. I rode from Vienna, VA to downtown everyday and almost everyone was fiddling with smart phones with earphones.
Bought a few LP's (a mint Brucker 4th) and about a dozen CD's. I'm VERY fortunate here in upstate SC to have 4 nearby ultra-super-dooper vinyl stores that have a nice classical selection in alphabetical order. One even has a classical "room".

I bought most of my present stereo from Tom. He was great to work with while I listened my heart out while deciding what I wanted to take home with me. Love those Ayre amps.
Which Bruckner 4th?
Thanks for the post. Glad to hear that Tom at Gifted Listener is hanging in there. Could you share the name/location of the stores in SC. I now live near the border of Va and NC and would be interested in visiting these places.
