How good are these?
Thanks!
I'm sure the JJs are fine, but you could put 450V Panasonics with superior life and temperature ratings in there for a fraction of the cost.
Maybe not. The large electrolytics were discontinued by Panasonic a year or two ago. Unless you find some in someones stock they're history I'm afraid. It's too bad since they were terrific caps, I agree.
The snap-in types were discontinued, but the EE series radials are still very much available. I ordered some from Mouser last week. Also, some 500V radials have been introduced by Nichicon and United Chemi-con with 105C temp ratings and long-life specs.
I'm repairing amps all the time, I have constantly have to keep up with what products are available for this kind of work.
Your '66 Gibson Explorer Amp should be a tone monster, FenderLover, since previous owner had Tone Tubby Humbolt speaker installed. It's a Brown Soun hemp-reconed Jensen P-RI driver. Next best thing to having actual vintage Jensen speaker. Hemp cones demand quality amplification, because of their revelatory nature. Photos apparently indicate complicity. Enjoy to Ulti-Maxx FenderLover!!! 73s para Sactown
