Many times you have a leaky bumblebee capacitor or capacitors that feed the volume control and what happens is,it will make it cut out like you have a bad pot because you are putting DC voltage on the volume control which is a no no.
Take your DC volt meter and check and see if you have DC voltage on each pin to ground of the volume pot.If you have .5vdc or more on any of the pins, you need to change out those caps first.

Dear Michael
maybe ,do you have a spare one ?
Feel free to contact me Pm
I second Audioclassics. They've done wonders with my MX 110. I had the Modafferi modifications done by them while it was repaired. Talk with Ryan Kilpatrick.
Sim
Unfortunately they e -mailed me that don't have the potentiometer
in stock.
Thanks for answer
Did you try Audio Classics in New York state USA? I purchased a NOS volume control for my "X" series MX110 from them about 4 years ago. They had to check their stock to verify they actually had one. It was expensive but fits and operates perfectly.
Thx Steve
i've send them a mail ...waiting for a reply.
Great place here ...a lot of gentlemen
Ok ,i have set on 2000mv red on adc black on the gorund:no dc current
flow on the 6 pins of volume control.
I noticed that when i turn the pot clockwise one of the pins is
moving slightly front to back ;if i put a very little bit of
deoxit (Philips dry contact cleaner )is gettin better ,but is
not solving the issue .
Do ineed a freh pot?
The unit was checked several times during years by very
knowedgeable technician.
I don't want DC current,I want to know if there is DC voltage of more than 1vdc or more.If there isn't,it's time for a new pot.As far as one of the pins moving when you turn it,that is no big deal.Which model MX-110 do you have? Is it a MX-110z?
