I have determined that my lack of tweeter sound in my A-25 is due to a faulty crossover capacitor, so I want to replace it. So what should I get? When I replaced the capacitors in a pair of A-35's about a decade ago I used Solens, but I have since then seen some criticism of Solens as being overly bright. So what should I get? Dayton?
Follow Ups:
Any film cap is likely to be brighter than the original NP electrolytic, due to lower ESR. So you might be turning the treble control down a notch... but mine were used "up" one step from the beginning - got them in 1973 or thereabouts.
New Dayton caps are on the way.
Obbligato paper foil in oil are great capacitors for crossovers. Around $6 each at Parts Connexion.
I do think Solens are on the bright side; particularly if you are replacing a non-polar electrolytic.
I've had good results with film caps from Dayton, Jantzen Cross Caps (their least expensive), and I did try some Clarity PX with good results.

Now I remember that you (Bold Eagle) suggested I use the Jantzen and you were correct sounds great.
I replaced the 4.7 cap with a film Jentzen from what others here suggested. The cost was modest.
I switched over my solans to these. Excellent clear capacitor. You need to spend a buck or two on that particular capacitor.
I was ready to spend big bucks on getting a Clarity cap and even Madisound recommended I just use these.
Given the simplicity of the A-25 crossover, and the effort needed to properly rebuild and A-25, the cost is reasonable.

I too used Solens for a number of years. About 6 months ago I switched to Audyn caps and I think they're noticeably less strident than the Solens and cost just a little bit more. You could also consider Clarity caps too.
Of course you can really go berserk with Mundorfs and Janzens, but I'm not sure they're worth the price to use in your A-25's.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
