I have a Lafayette EL-84 integrated that I picked up cheap a few years back at a antique radio flea. It was your typical 'glowing plate' special... Several new caps later (and a new set of '84s) it was as good as new...Its sound is quite nice... not as good as my Dyna SCA-35 (IMHO), but good. The output transformers are much better than I would have expected...

-The output transformers are much better than I would have expected...I noticed that in my receiver. I think this and the fact that they used EL84's is a big part of why these things sound so good. I had bought this receiver to pirate the output transformers. I didn't suspect that for the $18.00 I paid for it that it would work. It turns out that it had been completely worked over by someone who knew what he was doing. It sound great and the tuner is amazing!
