I am thinking of getting a pair of 12 ga. Alpha Core copper foil inductors for my Maggie 1.6 to replace the steel cored inductors. Any suggestions on a good way to attach the connecting wire to the foil leads ?
Ed-If the Maggie's have PC boards you should be able to solder the foil lead out's right to the traces. If I'm not soldering to a PC board, I usually take the foil near the inductor and cut it near the edge, on both sides so that I can then fold the foil into a smaller width. I then cover this with heat shrink tubing and solder the end to a terminal post of some kind. Be sure to secure the inductor with plastic ties, or hot-melt glue. Because the foil is so easy to bend I would not solder hanging wires right to it.
I like the idea of narrowing the foil to meet the wire.
Crimp and solder. Worked for me.
