Gang,I have been racking my brain for about a month. I posted asking for help 2 weeks ago on the Digital Asylum but I guess they are all involved with modifing cheap Toshiba DVD players.
Anyway here is my problem:
SPDIF input-> [16 bit DSP or RISC-microcontroller] -> I2S or l/r justified output.
Input and output serial ports will be the same speed.
I need to do minimal code in the processing section. I have thought about the older discontinued Crystal parallel buss SPDIF units. I have looked at CS84xx serial to processor & out again.
Phillips has a new part but it's not released yet. 7715 DSP
The big problem is that all the new DSP's and 16 bit controllers are massive QLFP 100-200 pins. I just don't want to deal with that size of units.
I have friends at TI and Morotola looking into options.
I want a simple processor with Flash or OTP programming that has a decent development system that doesn't cost and arm and a leg.
Any digital dynamo's that can give me some relief?
Follow Ups:
What processing do you need. Might be more interesting to look into
small FPGAs or PLDs.
I need to some simple math. I thought about that and have the Altera dev system here but I think it is more than I need.Real simple I need a dsp with zero I/O and 2 audio serial ports.
