Auricaps don't sound like this once they're broken-in but I haven't done this tweak either. I know from experience that Auricaps are a very nice sounding cap, just give then 5 days with the power on and see what happens. When I clean my connectors and power cords at first they sound very clear but have a bright edge on them at first but after a day it goes away. I hope this helps you out.
