I'm with dave. I think a suspension under speakers can help, but I would avoid going with anything too soft. The pavers and innertubes may be a bit unstable. I tried thin sheets of Sorbothane (about 1/4") and cut pieces to go under the protective cups for spikes. That worked well. I also had a local gasket shop cut som approx 30 durometer pucks out of 1" thick rubber, and that seemed to be a good combination of firmness and isolation. I was listening to Acoustat model 1+1s at the time, which were 8 foot tall. It didn't take much isolation to make them a bit unwieldy. Anyway, make sure you listen to focus, bass extension, etc. I've had results both ways, but generally on hardwood the sound is much more deliniated, with less bass boom, and better image depth and focus. Good luck!
